In our last post on eating fat to lose fat, we got some unexpected feedback. Some people got all happy, saying they can keep fried meat and fries on their plates. That’s…. not really the point we wanted to make. Eating fat is good for you, but not all fatty foods are good for you. Here’s a bit more info on the fatty issue.
1. Best Fat Foods: Wild-Caught Cold Water Fish
The fattier the fish, the better it is for you. Salmon, tuna, trout, and mackerel are full of Omega-3 fatty acids. The American Heart Association suggests we eat fish at least twice a week. That way we balance out bad Omega-6 with the good Omega-3 fats. And that’s great news.
Omega 3 fats bring in tons of benefits. It helps reducing inflammation. It also helps the body deal with workout muscle pain. Eating fish helps you lose the bad sort of fat, without starving yourself. You also do a lot better on the treadmill.
2. Best Fat Foods: Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is the best discovery since butter. It goes great with anything, and you can cook with it and spread it just like butter. Coconut oil makes you more resilient to bacteria, viruses, and fungus. It also keeps your blood sugar at bay and heals the thyroid gland. If you’ve ever dealt with weight gain, you know how important the thyroid is.
Extra virgin coconut oil has a saturated fat called Lauric acid. It’s a medium chain triglyceride, which does not store as fat and is an excellent source of energy. No long chain triglycerides, no liver problems.
3. Best Fat Foods: Avocados
If you’re trying to lose fat quickly, avocados are your best pal. You can spice up any broccoli and chicken dish for a more pleasant diet. It’s loaded with monounsaturated fat too. This heart-friendly fat lowers bad cholesterol and helps the body burn more fat. Avocados are also an excellent base for low-carb dips.
4. Best Fat Foods: Organic Eggs
You’ve heard it a million times: eggs are good for you. Egg yolks have Omega-3 fatty acids, Choline, B vitamins etc. All of them improve the cardiovascular and nervous system. Some people still believe that cholesterol in eggs is bad. But eating a few eggs will improve your overall health. Cholesterol in eggs also improve testosterone levels. More testosterone, more fat-burning at the gym.
5. Best Fat Foods: Nuts Or Nut Butter
Almonds, pistachios, and walnuts are your weight loss buddies. Almonds are rich in vitamin E. Pistachios have lutein and zeaxanthin. Walnuts are loaded with plant-based Omega-3 fatty acids.
Research shows that regular nut eaters lose fat faster. They are also less likely to develop Type 2 diabetes. And less likely to have heart problems.
Nut butter is an ideal snack when dieting. It’s calorie-rich and provides a modest dose of protein. Just don’t eat the whole jar at one go.
As you can see, there are plenty of ways you can eat fat to lose fat. But as we said earlier, not every fat is good for you. Fish, eggs, coconut oil, avocados and nuts all have Omega 3 fatty acids that are great for you. Eat more of this sort of fat, be moderate with the nut butter jar, and do regular workouts. All that will help you get better at losing weight.
